Declaration of the 98th Congress of the World Anational Association (SAT) – 2025

The 98th Congress of the World Anational Association (SAT) held in Grésillon (France) from August 9-16, 2025:

– recommends that SAT maintain the profile of an organisation of left-wing Esperantists by making a visible effort to utilise Esperanto, among other things:

• for the emancipation of the world’s working class along with all other dominated and oppressed social groups,
• for progressive reduction of social inequality within countries and worldwide,
• for resolute action, coordinated across the world, to counteract the ecological destruction of the planet, especially in reaction to the climate crisis,
• for progress toward a world in which capitalism disappears and human exploitation is impossible;
• against authoritarian and even fascist tendencies in many countries,
• against imperialism, imperialist wars, nationalism, racism, xenophobia, nativism and abuse of migrants in individual countries,
• against sexism, ableism, speciesism and LGBTQ discrimination

– recommends educative action to these ends and against a tendency to lead the Association to become an all-purpose political debating group, in which right-wing and anti-emancipatory positions appear to rank as high as the aforementioned positions;

– calls for the withdrawal of all imperialist and expansionistic countries from territories which they occupy without justification, to be followed by adequate reparations – from Gaza to the Ukraine, occupation is a crime!

– condemns imperialism without reservations motivated by partiality toward one geopolitical camp or another;

– advocates for a system of interstate relations based on international law and institutions at the world level that are as representative as possible;

– notes with indignation the genocidal character of the Israeli war against Gaza;

– demands immediate cease-fires in the Ukraine, Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Congo and other places;

– as to the cruel and endless war in Kivu (D. R. Congo), firmly condemns violence and crimes perpetrated against the people by various rebel groups, among them M23 and ADF Nalu, by neighboring countries and by companies that greedily extract wealth from the ground; and supports activities to denounce this war and pacify Kivu;

– suggests a substantial increase to peacekeeping budgets (blue helmets and other international instruments);

– proposes that atomic weapons be banned in all countries; recalls those victimised at the time and in the present by the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 80 years ago, and supports all activities for peace and against armaments;

– demands that both today’s inhabitants of the Earth and those that will follow us enjoy the right to a satisfactory and safe life, to which end the recovery of all that is alive should be brought about as quickly as possible;

– supports free stores and other initiatives benefiting those who have trouble making purchases freely.
