Declaration of the 86th Congress of the World Anational Association – 2013

The 86th Congress of the World Anational Association (SAT), meeting in Madrid (Spain) from July 28 to August 4

– congratulates activists who oppose police harassment of undocumented immigrants and calls upon EU member-states in the Frontex system to put an end to the harassment;

– notes with satisfaction the increasing readiness in libertarian and left milieus to use Esperanto as a sign of identity, in some cases by applying the language in the banners of periodicals and in article summaries, as well as by introducing it in multilingual websites;

– draws attention to imbalances in the world ecosystem and the necessity of changing not only ecologically relevant human behaviours, but also the social system to one that enables sustainable and ecologically responsible practices to take root;

– encourages the development of the 15M movement in Spain and its peaceful demand of the right of society to decide for itself about its future, as the activity of the Solfónica chorus serves to illustrate;

– resolutely condemns the mass arrests of immigrants in Moscow and elsewhere, and demands their cessation.
